Image Management

 Prerequisite

Our picture management interface uses browser functionality. Because of this, the feature can only be used with the latest version of your browser (i.e. Internet Explorer 10, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome). Alternatively, the former interface is still available for older browsers.

More information: How to Add Images

The image gallery allows the following image formats: .jpg, .png. gif.
However .png & animated .gif images cannot be used with this new feature.

This new functionality is available in the items description (menu [Commerce \ Items]).

 Advice on item images
  • Images are very important to sell on the Internet. They are the only wayfor the customer to see the product. The ideal image needs to be of high quality (luminosity, contrast, clearness) and have an optimized size for the internet. You can add images from: "Imágenes" Tab. The default sizes can be changed. The interface can optimise images size.
  • The integrate tools allows you to resize zoom, thumbnail and main pictures during the upload.
  • Advice for image size are general and these will depend on your site and products
    • Main images: we advise from 300 - 400 px.
    • Thumbnail images: we recommend from 100 - 150 px.

For zoom or large pictures: from 600 - 1200px. The interface will automatically resize and compressed quality.

  • Images file name
Note that search engines such as Google index image files names. You can improve your SEO by renaming your images filenames incorporating key words.

Example: image0010.jpg can be renamed as tshirt-men.jpg

It’s better to name your files on your computer with a web safe format: no space, no apostrophe, no special characters on the images name file otherwise, the system will do it for you.

You only can use uppercase letters and lowercase letters from A to Z, numbers from 0 to 9 and “-” and “_”.

Settings related to the output format
Default sizes are: - 300 x 300 px for the “Main” image
- 100x100 px for the thumbnail
- 800 x 800 px for zoom.

The suffix of these can be added to filename.

To do this go into the menu [Gallery \ Images], “Component properties” tab.

In the “Detail image” tab, you can define a default category. The following suffix added to the image filename: -big (useful to differentiate between 3 formats). This suffix can be customised.

 Standardization

If your items images don’t have the same proportions and/or orientation ( portrait and landscape), it is very useful to include them into a square.

By using standardisation tab you can choose the image background colour. We recommend using the same colour as your site background by naming the hexadecimal code number into the field “HEX”.

Note: The system will create the square by using the biggest size.

Generally it is not necessary to change the image compression quality.
