Shopping Cart (Shop)

 Objective

The Shopping Cart (Shop) component allows you to display Items (Products-Services) with E-Commerce features. Your visitors can purchase the products you are offering online.

This component manages the entire ordering process, including:
  • Presentation of items created in your administration space according to criteria defined in the properties of your Items and Shopping Cart components.

  • Shopping cart management (addition of items to the cart, consultation and modification of cart, confirmation of selection).

  • Account creation and customer identification.

  • Customer information entry or modification.

  • Shipping fee calculation and shipping option selection.

  • Choice of payment method.

  • Terms and Conditions acceptance and order confirmation.

  • Customer redirection to bank or payment processor interface (if necessary).

  • Dispatch of order acknowledgement (customer and administrator), stock and order tracking updates.

 Difference Between the Shopping Cart (Shop) and Catalog (Brochure) Components
  • The function of the Catalog (Brochure) component is to present your products without offering the possibility to purchase them online.

  • The Shopping Cart (Shop) component is intended for an E-Commerce site and allows visitors to purchase your products online.
 
 Implementation

For all of the components in the Actinic solution, your site must display at least one link allowing your visitors to access the component. These links are explained in the help topic Navigation Behaviors and are generally connected to menu elements or elements in your site's home page (provided that this home page was created using a WebBlock).

By default, when your site is created, one of the elements in your horizontal menu already contains a link to the Shopping Cart (Shop) component, which allows you to display all of the items in your site. While building your site, we recommend including more links in your menus and WebBlocks that authorize access to a specific item category, for example.
  • To add a link to the Shopping Cart component (and display all items), use the following navigation behavior:

    Type of Behavior: Display one of the site components
    Component: Shopping Cart: Catalog
    Opening Mode: Propose all elements

  • To add a link to a specific item category in the Shopping Cart (Shop) component:

    Type of Behavior: Display one of the site components
    Component: Shopping Cart: Catalog
    Opening Mode: Propose a category and/or brand
    and select a category from the category drop-down list

  • To add a link to a specific item in the Shopping Cart (Shop) component:

    Type of Behavior: Display one of the site components
    Component: Shopping Cart: Catalog
    Opening Mode: Propose a specific element
    and click on the [...] button to select a category, then a product from your item catalog
 
 Element Classification

You can modify the order your items are displayed in. You can classify these items by name, price, item code or apply the manual classification defined in the Items (Products-Services) component under the "Element Classifications" tab.

You can also activate an option allowing your customers to modify the default classification.
 
 Element Layout

This tab allows you to define the maximum number of items displayed simultaneously on the pages of this component, as well as their layout.

 Shopping Cart Properties

The "Properties" tab allows you to define specific behaviors concerning your shop, including:
  • Price Display Mode (Including or Excluding VAT)

  • VAT Management for Export and Intra-Community VAT Management

  • Terms and Conditions Management (display and customer acceptance) during the ordering process

  • Activation/Deactivation of:
    • Display of products with null prices
    • Authorization to purchase products with null prices
    • Multiple attribute price display
    • Product code display
    • Low stock level email alert
    • Link insertion to order history in the customer's order confirmation email.
    • Display of estimated delivery cutoff date in the shopping cart confirmation page.
    • Link allowing the customer to suggest products to a friend or add products to their favorites

  • Storing new users
 
 Modifying Fixed Text

[Commerce\Shopping Cart (Shop)], "Component Text" Tab

The "Component Text" tab allows you to personalize most of the text used by this component: buttons, messages, etc.

We recommend modifying at least the text [0] - Shopping Cart. This text will be displayed on all the pages of your shop and is useful for your search engine optimization. You could replace it with a short description of your activity, for example. Attention: This text will be the same on all of the pages in your shop. Therefore, use a generic text that is suitable for all of your products.

 
 Category Classification

You can modify the display order of your item categories. You can classify them into alphabetical order or use the manual classification defined in the item categories page.

 
 Category Layout

Your item categories can be displayed or hidden in this component. As soon as you have created and correctly defined item categories, we recommend presenting them in your shop. This will make browsing easier for your visitors.

You can define the number of categories you want to display per page and per row.

The "Category Filter" zone allows you to activate the [Back to Categories] button and the breadcrumb trail.

You have 3 available options:
  • Not visible (no filter)
  • [Back to Categories] button only
  • Category breadcrumb trail
 
 Interaction with the Different Pages of Your Administration Space

The way the pages in your shop are displayed depends on a lot of other information defined in numerous pages of your administration space.
Attention: Some of these elements are essential to be able to complete an online order. You must create a shipping option and activate a payment method on your site to allow customers to purchase online.
