 Menus
Using menus is the easiest way to organize navigation throughout your site. Of course, this is not your only possibility, but it is the easiest to implement and the most effective for your visitors because the three menus are always visible, no matter what page is displayed. In this way, they offer the visitor instantaneous navigation possibilities without the need to return to a different page.

There are three menus in the Actinic system: the vertical menu, the horizontal menu, and the footer menu.

The vertical menu (which appears in the left-hand side of your site) and the horizontal menu (which is visible at the top of your site, underneath your header, if you have defined a header) are the most important menus. You are not obligated to use both of them, but it is generally a good way to logically organize your site.

Try to group your options together in a logical manner. For example, put all of the information items (hot news, FAQ, hot links, partners, etc.) in the vertical menu, and everything that concerns sales in the horizontal menu (shopping cart, shop, terms and conditions, etc.).

In the case of a purely merchant site, you may decide to provide global access to your shop, the contents of the shopping cart, and customer account management (order tracking) in your horizontal menu. In your vertical menu you may want to create numerous specialized entries pertaining to your catalog (categories, products to highlight). In the footer menu, you may choose to include your terms and conditions, your address, etc.

Keep one thing in mind: The horizontal menu is the only menu that cannot be infinitely expanded. In theory, the vertical menu can contain dozens of menu options. The only thing to consider is that this will result in a very "long" site requiring scrolling to see all of the options. The footer menu can be split up into several lines if all of the options do not fit on a single line. This will not have any consequences for the display of your site. However, this is not the case for the horizontal menu. If displayed on several lines, this menu will take up an enormous amount of valuable space by diminishing the visible portion of the site reserved for your data (products, content).

The footer menu is generally used for the options that you want to emphasize the least: administrative addresses, site policies, etc.

A menu option is simply a name that will be displayed and associated with a navigation behavior. For example, the name [Online Shop] associated with the navigation behavior [Display the shopping cart component (Online Shop)], or the name [Search the Web] and the behavior [Display a website in a new window - http://www.google.com]
 
 Add a Menu Option
To add a menu option, first choose the menu where you wish to add this option: Vertical, Horizontal, or Footer. Then click on [Add]. Define a name and a behavior. For more information about navigation behaviors, click here.
 
 Delete a Menu Option
To delete a menu option, choose the menu that contains this option, hover over this option and click on [Delete].

Very important point: When you delete a menu option, you do not delete the associated data. For example: You delete the vertical menu option [Online Shop] and you confirm the deletion. The display of the option [Online Shop] is deleted, but not your product catalog or the configuration of your shop. You do not lose any important work. As soon as you add another option, such as [Shop], in a menu and ask this option to [Display the shopping cart component (Online Shop)], your shop will once again be available!
 
 Modify a Menu Option
To modify a menu option (the text displayed in the menu), hover over the option using your mouse and click on [Edit]. Change the text contained in the Name zone.

You can perform copy/cut/paste operations to relocate your menu options within a menu or to and from another menu.
 
 Language Management
When you create a multilingual site, you can ask the system to display only the menu options of a single language in order to organize your site more easily in the given language.
