Email Accounts

 Introduction
If you own a domain name www.MySite.com that is managed by Actinic, you can create as many MyName@MySite.com type email addresses as you want (replace "MyName" by whatever you want: "FirstName.LastName", "Sales", "Info", etc.).

All mail that is sent and received at these email addresses can be managed by WebMail or from an email client that is installed on your computer (Outlook Express, Eudora, etc.).

For your security and that of your correspondents, your incoming and outgoing electronic messages are systematically validated, one by one, by a very high quality antivirus. This antivirus is updated in real time and is provided by Kaspersky, leading company in the sector for almost 15 years (click here for more information).

 
 What's an email address and what's WebMail?
We rarely ask ourselves this question and are often content just to use them. But to use them well, it's preferable to understand how they work.

When you own a domain name, your email address is an account name that is associated to a domain name. For example, in My.Name@MyCompany.com, My.Name is the account name and MyCompany.com is the domain name. Make the parallel with a classic letter that is delivered in your name to your office building.

When an email server sends an email addressed to My.Name@MyCompany.com, this server is going to search an international database to fine the domain MyCompany.com. It then leaves an email on our servers in your email account.

New parallel: The mailman came by and left mail in the mailbox at the entrance to your building. If you don't go "look" ... you can esteem that you haven't received any mail.

You have two ways to go "look", that is to say two ways to read and write your emails.

You use an email client that is installed on your PC, such as Outlook Express, Outlook 2000 or Eudora. The role of this email client is to go and get your mail in the mailbox at the entrance to your building and to leave it in the basket on your desk.

This is obviously very practical because you don't have to get up to see what has been delivered to your mailbox. If you manage your email from a single computer, you can configure this email client to go and get the mail every 10 minutes, the same as if your secretary went to the entrance of the building every 10 minutes to see if you have mail (in a perfect world where the mailman also came by every ten minutes!).

Of course, each time you go and get your mail, your mailbox is emptied and your inbox is filled.

But imagine that you are traveling. If you have your PC with you then all is well. Your email client is capable of retrieving your mail from your mailbox. It's a bit like if you have your mail forwarded.

However, if you don't have your PC with you, your mail stays in your mailbox! This is where an online email management program, generally called WebMail, allowing you to access your mail through a simple Internet browser, is very useful.

Indeed, you can check your mailbox, read your mail, respond to your mail, etc. from any PC the world over (at work, at home, at a friend's house, at a client's house, at a hotel, on your PDA, etc.) without emptying your mailbox!

This is obviously very practical because you have nothing to configure to do this. All you need to do is simply remember your email address (My.Name@MyCompany.com) and your password.

Furthermore, if you have given one of your colleagues the responsibility of overseeing the orders that you receive at the address Sales@MyCompany.com and that you both use WebMail to read and respond to emails and orders, you can see what is going on while entrusting a third party to handle your orders and emails!

Of course, you can combine the use of an email client on your PC with the use of an online email program like WebMail. You just need to understand the nuance between your mailbox (that is on our servers and that the WebMail program can access at any time) and your Inbox (which is on your PC in the email client you use). It's logical that once the emails have been retrieved by the email client on your PC, the WebMail program can no longer access these emails!

In conclusion, there is no one better solution for managing your emails. Between an email client installed on your PC or Webmail through an Internet browser, one solution isn't better worse than the other. There is no absolute rule. In general, if you have to share a mailbox, such as Sales@MyCompany.com, use WebMail. If you travel on a regular basis, use WebMail (another advantage is that if you receive an enormous email that requires a long download time, you can see the subject before deciding to download the attachment...). On the other hand, if you are sedentary, use an email client on your PC.
 
 Pricing
The pack of the first two email accounts is billed at £5/month, the next ten at £1.5/month/email, and any email accounts over this amount at £1/month/email. You don't need to sign up for any particular subscription. The billing system keeps track of your consumption every month and bills you accordingly.

For example, if you use 4 email accounts, your billing will be determined as follows: £5 + (2 x £1.5) = £8
 
 What does Actinic provide for this price?
  • An email account secured by a professional antivirus (which is very rarely the case with other offers).
  • POP3 access to manage your emails directly from an email client, such as Outlook Express or Eudora.
  • Universal WebMail access to be able to easily read and respond to your messages from any Internet connection the world over (hotel, Internet café, etc.).
  • 20 megabytes of storage per email account.
  • For each email address, you have an online administration space for your email account where you can, among other things, configure:
    • An automatic response system,
    • Message redirection to another mailbox,
    • Distribution filters,
    • etc.
  • A specialized component in your Actinic admin console for easily creating, modifying or deleting your email accounts without any external intervention (24 hours a day).
  • An AntiSpam filtering system with international blacklist filters.
 
 Terms of Use
The assigned email accounts are available for exclusive use only for the subscriber and the members of their company or association. In no case can they be surrendered to a third party, whether it be free of charge or for compensation.

The email address and its password allow you to identify yourself when using the email account.

The messages are stored on the Actinic servers within the limits of the email account size. Actinic fixes this size at 20 MB, but may change this size provided they inform their subscribers about this modification.

Actinic shall not be held liable for the consequences of a saturated account (messages, folders, etc.) and, in particular, in the case where the account has not been consulted for at least 90 days.

Actinic reserves the right to refuse the transmission or storage of any message where the size or content could bring into question the general quality of the service provided to their subscribers.

Actinic shall not be held liable for the integrity and content of the data that is stored by their subscribers on their servers. It is specified that Actinic takes no responsibility for the conservation, transmission and storage of messages or any other personal information.

The subscriber promises to rigorously respect the Actinic AntiSpam policy as it is defined in the system's general terms of use.
 
 How to read, write and manage your mail using WebMail?
Go to the WebMail access page.

Enter the name of your email account, for example My.Name@MyCompany.com, and enter your password. WebMail will open automatically.
