Becoming a mother has one big drawback: not being able to earn a living -- while the children are small at least. 38 year old Christianne James gave up working as a city banker when her first baby arrived. Eight years on and with another child in the family, she needed to pay for their school fees but couldn't find a part-time job. Starting an online store selling products she knows about therefore made sense. So in March 2008 www.4little1s.com was born offering a beautiful array of unusual baby gifts, clothes, shoes, cards and also an exciting range of nursery furniture giving a price range of £3.50 to £800.
The web store was built with Actinic's ecommerce software and cost around £7,000 in total, but took only a couple of months to get everything in place. First year turnover is projected as £20k with a healthy profit to cover those school fees.
The case study includes Christianne's tips for success.
