University of Huddersfield Awards Actinic Prize for Best MSc E-business Student
- Early retirement pays off for top student -

West Byfleet, Surrey - 18 December 2006 - Top student Brian Stephenson has won the Actinic prize for overall best student of 2006 on the University of Huddersfield's MSc E-business course. The prize, which is awarded annually, was presented to Brian by Actinic product manager John Hart.

One of the UK's leading collectors of tribal art, Brian is already no stranger to the world of ebusiness and ecommerce. After taking early retirement from a varied and successful career, in 2003 he launched his first commercial website, www.ancestralimages.com, displaying items from his collection. In 2005, he added two additional ecommerce sites to his portfolio and in late 2006 launched an e-portal for internet entrepreneurs, www.net-entrepreneurs.com.

For his prize Brian chose to receive a copy of the Actinic Business software used on the course. "In my experience, it is essential that an ecommerce site is customer friendly. During my course at the Huddersfield University Business School I found Actinic to be a simple, yet flexible, 'one stop shop' solution. It allows ecommerce entrepreneurs to launch sites that are customer friendly and readily customisable, and can be used by site developers possessing only minimal programming skills," he says.

Pete Wraith, principal lecturer at the University of Huddersfield says, "We have students from all over the world studying with us, and very few are from an IT background. We work with small businesses and start-up companies, helping them to trade on the web, and in the last five years we must have built over 200 shops with Actinic. We use Actinic because it lets us examine all the issues in building and managing an e-shop, and so far, has not let us down."

"This award recognises the high level of achievement gained by a particular student in an area which is increasingly important to business," says Actinic's John Hart. "The diversity of the students on the course shows how ebusiness is spreading among the whole range of industries. The valuable knowledge that Brian and the other students have gained on the course will undoubtedly be of benefit to their future employers, and Actinic is proud to be associated with it."
