This short guide will take you though the basic steps required to implement Google Checkout with your Actinic Express store.

Step 1 – Google Checkout Account

In order to use Actinic Express with GoogleCheckout you must have a working Google Checkout account. This can be added to an existing GoogleAccount you may have, or can be a new account.

For more information and to sign up for Google Checkout, go to the Google Checkout website: http://checkout.google.com/sell

Please note Actinic cannot provide support for the sign up process with Google, for assistance with this please use Google’s comprehensive on line help pages at http://checkout.google.com/support/sell/?hl=en-GB.

If you wish, you can set up a test account using Google’s Sandbox (http://sandbox.google.com)

Step 2 – Google Integration Settings (Starting)

Integration settings

Once you have completed the sign up process with Google, you will have access to the ’Settings’ tab. Within that tab, click on the ‘Integration’ link. This should bring up the integration settings page, looking like this:

Integration settings step 1

You will see your ‘Google merchant ID’ and ‘Google merchant key’ these are two of the three vital pieces of information to make your Actinic Express shop work with Google Checkout. Keep this page open in your browser, or copy and paste your merchant ID and merchant key to the Notepad.

The third item you will need, the ‘API callbackURL’, will be generated by Actinic Express in the next step.

NOTE: The ‘Google merchant ID’ and ‘Google merchant key’ shown here are examples only, you should not use these values.

Step 3 – Actinic Express Payment Method

Log into your Actinic Express shop and select ‘Payment Methods’ from the ‘Business Settings’ menu. A page similar to the one below will be shown; yours will include your currently configured payment methods. In our example shop we have only configured ‘Card DetailsCaptured for Later Processing’.

Payment method step 1

You will see ‘Google Checkout’ as an available payment method; if you do not, please contact our support department (you can find out how to contact them at http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/index.htm)

Click the ‘Enable’ button. Note this only enables the payment method for you to configure, it does not make it available in your online shop at this stage.

Payment method step 2

Now the payment method is enabled we can configure it by clicking the ‘Configure’ button

Payment method step 3

Now we need the two vital pieces of information from the Google Checkout Integration Settings page (back in Step 2). Copy and paste the ‘Google merchant ID’ into the ‘Google Merchant ID’ box and then enter the ‘Google merchant key’ into the ‘Google Merchant key’ box.

Next, copy the ‘API callback URL’ from the Actinic Express payment configuration page. You will need it in the next step.

Click OK to save your settings.

Go back to the Integration Settings of your Google Checkout Account.

NOTE: The ‘Google merchant ID’, ‘Google merchant key’ and ‘API callbackURL’ are examples only; please substitute your own values. Also note that ifyou are using a test account you should set the first box to ‘true’ to indicate Test Mode.

Step 4 – Google Checkout Integration Settings (Completion)

Without closing the Actinic Express window, we need to to back to the Google Checkout Integration Settings to complete the configuration, so that Google knows how to return customers to your online shop after completing their purchase.

Integration settings step 2

Enter the ‘API callback URL’ from yourActinic Express shop payment method into the ‘API callback URL’ box.

Now save your Google Checkout Integration settings.

NOTE: The ‘Google merchant ID’, ‘Google merchant key’ and ‘API callbackURL’ are examples only; please substitute your own values.

Step 5 – Actinic Express Payment Method (Adding GoogleCheckout)

Now that we have configured the Google Checkout Integration Settings and the Actinic Express Payment Method, you can go back to the Actinic Express screen and click ‘Add to Shop’ to install yourconfigured Google Checkout payment method into your online shop

Payment method step 4

Product Setup – Complies with Google Checkout

Google checkout has a policy concerning the types of product it is permissible to sell. In order to support this, Actinic Express requires you to indicate on a per product basis that your product complies with the Google Checkout policy. Click on the ‘Google Checkout Content Policies’ link for more information. It is the merchant’s responsibility to ensure this policy is followed.
